Set in a 1950s Brooklyn hospital during the height of the 1952 polio outbreak, this play follows Dr. Saleem and her female colleagues as they fight to advance their careers and prove their competence in a male-dominated medical field. Eager to serve and rescue vulnerable patients during the crisis, Dr. Saleem faces constant opposition from her nemesis Dr. Emman, a male colleague who believes women doctors are inferior and incompetent, fit only for menial tasks like washing trays and bedpans.
